Full Time, Night Shift, M-R 8p-6a

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • Education
      • Minimum of associate degree in allied health field or commensurate minimal requirement to obtain registry specific by the Association of Polysmonographic Technologists (APT).
    • Experience
      • Must maintain registry with APT. Must maintain a current CPR card and have knowledge of emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures and maintain a certification in this area. Must be sympathetic to patients’ needs and have a capacity to deal with the severely ill patients. An affinity for electronic equipment and their adjustments would be helpful. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with patients and medical staff. Knowledge of basic cardiac arrhythmias is required. Must be computer literate.

      • Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing of both normal and soft tones. Exposure to chemical hazards. Operates sleep recorders, still camera, video-VCR, camera, microphone, intercom, monitor, phone tools - screwdriver. Lifting up to 100 lbs. and carrying up to 40 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs. Frequent sitting, bending, reaching and stooping. Occasional standing and walking.
  • JOB SUMMARY
    • On-the-job training will be provided. Work conditions include working by oneself during late night hours. Primarily sitting and monitoring recordings in laboratory setting. Very little human contact once patient goes to sleep. Must be able to work with limited supervision. Must act in a professional manner at all times due to sensitive nature of study. The purpose of the test is stated, but it is the technician’s duty to broadly interpret the general instructions to adapt them to the needs of the patient. Innovation is a necessary skill and there will be an occasional need to develop new methods of observation. Must monitor patient for any distress and acts in an appropriate manner. Must be flexible with work hours and be willing to work extra hours as required. Performs sleep studies and scoring procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under the direction of a physician and assistant patient services manager.
